Welcome to the teachers section of "smoke’s no joke". We aim to arm you with all the information you need to tackle smoking issues in school.

Classroom Debate Resources

You can register free of charge onto the website www.idebate.org. This site has a huge range of resources for both students researching a debate and for teachers wishing to organise a debate in the classroom, including six smoking related debate topics.

The most useful tool on the website for students, is the 'debate-abase' section, which lists arguments for and against many different motions.

Accompanying each motions suggestion are various arguments for and against the motions, as well as suggesting websites (including ASH) and books that look at the issues under debate. This part of the site is written by university debating students, and many of the motions and argument suggestions are called 'Junior Topics' – meaning they're specifically suited to school-age debaters.
